BENEFITS OF BREATHWORK

FAQs

I hope these FAQs provide you with a better understanding of breathwork and its benefits. If you have any other questions or would like to learn more about how breathwork can support you, please feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to working with you on your breathwork journey.

Are there different kinds of breathwork?

Yes. Different cultures have been using breath to aid healing for centuries. Holotropic breathwork and other similar styles became repopularized in the 1970s by Stan Grof and other spiritual experiencers who were curious about exploring the healing benefits of altered states . The specific style of breath work I prefer is the Buteyko method. I’ve found that this nasal style of breathing is scientifically backed to enhance oxygen in the body and has a grounding effect, more structure, and provides a greater sense of support.

What are the benefits of breath-work?

There is a growing resurgence in awareness of just how powerful a healing tool breathwork is for us. Here are just a few benefits:

  • Increase your resilience and renew your energy
  • Reduce stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia
  • Increase lung capacity, oxygenation & cardio-respiratory health
  • Connect you to your inner self and to others
  • Improve performance in personal and professional activities
  • Bring ease to any digestion issues and calm the intestines (which are sometimes referred to as our ‘second lungs’
  • Increase oxygen delivery to every cell in your body
  • Regulate and heal your nervous system
  • Balance hormones for energy & vitality
  • Revolutionise the way you sleep
  • Calm and focus your mind
  • Heal the gut for optimum digestion & ease
  • Boost circulation & clear nose blockages
What should I expect in a 60 minute session?

In your introductory session, we will spend the first 15 minutes discussing any current health concerns and assessing your BOLT (body oxygen level) before we gently ease into some slow and relaxing breathwork to regulate your nervous system into the parasympathetic.

Is every session the same?

Although the approach is always the same, the experience during each Breathwork session is different every time as I work with the individual needs of my clients.. The one thing I’ve noticed over the years is that Breathwork always gives you what you need.

Is it scary? What if I experience pain or discomfort?

We use a nasal-breathing technique ensuring the body is safe to focus on healing. I rarely see any people in pain or discomfort as I work at their pace. You get to decide how much you are ready for.

Where are sessions held?
  • Online sessions will be held over Zoom at an agreed time and date.
  • Group session locations will be announced on the site
  • For corporate and event bookings please email me at: miriam@native-breath.com
How many sessions are required to experience the benefits?

The number of breathwork sessions needed to experience the benefits can vary depending on the individual and their specific goals.
Some clients may notice immediate benefits after just one session, while others may require multiple sessions to achieve desired results.
I typically recommend starting with a series of 3-5 sessions to allow for a deeper integration of the breathwork practice and its effects.
If you are wanting to create long lasting, transformational change, a minimum of 10 sessions is highly recommended, with a session every 2 weeks if possible. After that, you can feel where you’re at, and whether you’d like to continue the sessions or if you would prefer longer to integrate. I am always available for support in between sessions via whatsapp.

Can anyone do breathwork?

Personally I only work with people over the age of 18 and request to please discuss before booking a session if you have any of the following:
history of panic attacks, psychosis, or disturbances
seizure disorders
heart attack
retinal detachment
recent injury or surgery

Can I do Breathwork on my own?

Yes, I encourage you to adopt a regular practice in order to glean the best results from our private sessions.
